NBA in talks with Disney about restart season

The NBA initiated a conversation with The Walt Disney Company on a single-site scenario for a resumption of play in Central Florida in late July.

NBA spokesman Mike Bass said the conversations were still “exploratory,” and that the Disney site would be used for practices and housing as well.

Our priority continues to be the health and safety of all involved, and we are working with public health experts and government officials on a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure that appropriate medical protocols and protections are in place," Bass said.

Back in March, the NBA suspended its season with no known restart date out of caution of the coronavirus pandemic.
Disney, which owns ESPN, is one of the NBA’s two major television partners. The Wide World of Sports Complex includes multiple arenas and hotels and has hosted the NBA Jr. World Championship.

Space won’t be an issue.he entire Disney complex is roughly 40 square miles, with nearly 24,000 hotel rooms owned or operated by Disney within the campus.

More information regarding a potential return to action will become available in the coming days and weeks as the league tries to hammer down a feasible plan. The NBA's Board of Governors is set to hold a call on Friday, May 29, per Charania, at which point some major decisions could be made
