Rice is the staple food of millions of people. But among those who eat rice are more at risk of suffering from diabetes. The scientists said, the calories found in white rice starch, which increases the amount of body fat and carbohydrates.

According to scientists,we will get about 200 calories from a cup of rice.

Two Sri Lankan scientist Dr. James sudahira and Pusparaja tabaraja - the country's College of Chemical Sciences who has studied this. They say, the new rice cooking method, that is possible to reduce the amount of calories in half.

On Monday, the American Chemical Society's national meeting, they expressed the preliminary results of the study.

What is the procedure?

Researcher Sudahira James says, "The first cup water to hatch, and the amount of rice that will cook it for about three percent of its coconut oil should be in hatch. After that add the rice in the boiling water. After cooking put the rice in refrigerator 12 hour, leave to cool. "
